Michael Moore Talks About Slovenia

The clip from Sicko that references Slovenia.

Michael Moore’s latest film, Sicko, opens in Slovenia today. It’s already garnered plenty of attention here thanks to the clip shown above.

A somewhat hapless journalist recently chatted with Michael Moore in Sarajevo about the film. PopTV has video of the interview here. Moore basically goofs off the whole time, but his reaction to a Bosnian reporter who interrupts the interview is especially funny.

(Thanks Mitja!)

Although my intelligence knows that Moore is just “goofing off”, my Slovenian ego feels a little insulted, especially when he talks to that Bosnian journalist. We really don’t get enough respect. Really.

If you’ve been dealing with slovene health system as much as we have in the past year you’d probably agree we don’t deserve to be #38. We’re probably closer to #98…

Moore demonstrates what it’s like if you don’t have insurance or the money to pay for your treatment in the US but over here it doesn’t matter how much you’re willing to spend (forget insurance, they won’t let you die but that’s about it). They’ll screw you twice over, money or no money.

Ok, I could only watch half of the clip so at 24ur so far, as my browser at work keeps crashing. I doubt, Moore does the USA a favour as he seems to proof some not very nice prejudice about US-Americans. I.e. fat, totally ignorant and thinking they’re the best while the rest of the world are idiots. Fortunately the US-Americans I met so far were not like that.

Actually I don’t think Moore is the ignorant one here, it’s the stupidity of the journalist that pisses me off. Because she exemplifies exactly what Moore had cleverly pointed out and mocked accordingly, namely Slovenian obsession with what others will say about us, and she is totally incapable to respond to Moore’s witticisms. Because I thnik he is extremely funny in this interview, especially when talking about letting them stay no. 37, because they don’t like when somebody beats them:)

LOL, loves it! I know it’s only POP In but could that journalist have been any dumber?!

It is silly that the Journalist is more concerned about what Micheal Moore thinks about Slovenia than attacking the reasons that Slovenian health care is as low as 38th in the world. Perhaps the same reason that Paris Hilton in jail recieved more attention than the war in Iraq?

Ok, finally got the chance to watch all the video. Much better if it doesn’t crash all the time. Ok, basically the questions were about the same as if a three year old girlie is pissed off because there’s no candy. I still somehow don’t like him. But, at least he knows there’s Slovakia which is another country than Slovenia.

LOL, excellent, he really hit the mark. and oooh, she’s sooooo concerned. what will they think about us now, what will they say?

It’s so ridiculous. Funny video. I wonder why she didn’t ask him, why he uses a statistic of 1997. I mean it is 10(!) years later now.

That some hard-hitting journalism. Apply directly to the forehead.
