Old Slovenian Drinking Glasses

ljmbce.jpg
Old tourist glasses from Ljubljana, Maribor and Celje. (source)

I’ve always been interested in Austria-Hungary, ephemera, and obsessive-compulsive behavior, and this site brings all of those things together in one spectacular location. European Souvenir Glass: A Virtual Museum currently showcases 2,347 glasses from 38 countries, but focuses mainly on the former Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and German Empire.

The collection includes 29 glasses from Slovenia, many of them boasting their former German or Italian names.

This, my friends, is what the internet was made for.

Michael, this is what the internet was made for ;-)

Some of the German names of Slovene villages/towns are extremely amusing. “Rohitsch Sauerbrunn” is mentioned, a glass from “Tüffer” is however missing

i agree. internet + semi-solitary drinkin is the future. Or wait, now that people can’t smoke in bars, I don’t have to wash my clothes after having a drink. That kinda kills the only plus for drinking by the computer..
Anyway I see that the town with the most beautiful german name is not there; Adelsberg..
