A great post, thanks!!
Hats down to Barnaby, he did a great job with pronunciation.
Wow!
I especially admired the camera work…
It also becomes obvious that Drnovšek is still in the very first phase of every new ager’s experience: “me against the rest of the (bad) world” plus “I need to talk to people”. On the other hand, if his large audience really tries to think his way, than he has spread his message - a success many non-statesmen cannot really boast of. And we do all know that this world is not a bed of roses…
This is great! The camerawork, the production, the piece itself… Highly professional, I must say. And there’s no underlying sarcasm Slovene journalists (myself included) usually use when describing Drnovšek’s habits.
An excellent programme about a true visionary. I’ve long been an admirer of the President and this reinforces and expands that view. To those Slovenians who ridicule him, would you trade him for Bush I wonder?
As a Brit it was also an interesting insight into how BBC News is taking the slippery road to Foxification. All their best journalists such as Barnaby and Rageh Omar have clearly chosen fact and balance over spin and propaganda and jumped ship to Al Jazeera.
Is that Terra Folk in the background?
Anyway, i noticed a tiny slip-up, the subtitles in the scene with the journalist giving his opinion on Drnovsek’s decision say:
Borut Mečina - Bečer Newspaper
Very interesting!
Though I must admit I am a bit concerned about all the time he spends alone in the forest writing his manifestos….
Thanks for posting this, I’ve been very curious about President Janez.
P.S. I like Janez WAY better than I like Bush!
@plav trg: It’s not about trading him for Bush (although I can think of a certain foreign minister who’d do that :)). But you know the old adage about being a prophet in one’s home village.
Personally speaking, while I cannot agree entirely with his world view, I still think that he is the only one keeping this country sane. So if he were to run again I’d hapilly vote for him.
I’m not quite sure, whether a guy from a satiric magazine is the right person to review Drnovšek’s books here
What really impressed me was the way J.D. talked about politics and how necessary certain events are
His reasoning is good and his peaceful attitude seems very sympathic to me. A really pleasant contrast to the self-important behaviour of most other politicians worldwide. I also admire, that privately he’s just doing his thing, no matter what jokes others make about it.
What’s the deal with the klezmer music in the background?
