Nova Gorica, Italy

nova-gorica-italy.jpg
Awww, hell no. (Source)

As you can see by the screenshot above, Google Earth not only places the Slovenian city of Nova Gorica within the borders of Italy, but even openly declares it as such.

What about the Treaty of Paris? Does that mean nothing to these people? J’accuse!

(Thanks Adrijan!)

Being from N.Gorica I now suspect that I am actually not myself but another person, an Italian. What a surprise!

To continue where alcessa left it: Google Earth places the disputed area around Bay of Piran, Savudrija and the River Dragonja well within Slovene borders… :D

The cat-eating yellow pricks already had Ljubljana for a while. Old partisans say it wasn’t really hard to drive them out. The krauts were the tough ones, they say.

Well… i tried maps.google.com and it places Nova gorica within Slovenia. So i guess, they have different engines… But what bothers me is the fact, that border on your pic is incorrect… Its too par on the right, therefore Nova gorica is correct (its on the train station), just the border is too far in the left (east)…

    Compare this map ( maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=nova+gorica,+slovenia&ie=UTF8&z=15&ll=45.953119,13.6409&spn=0.021751,0.054245&t=h&om=1 ) with yours…

@Michael M.: Maybe Google knows things we are yet to find out :?

@Matty: Interesting…. And it also does not show a border in the disputed area between SLO and CRO. So I guess Google Maps is a bit more relevant than Google Earth…

OMG, Italy has annexed my home! I think I’ll rise in rebellion… Well, maybe after dinner.

This is new — I was doing the Google Earth thing over NG last spring (seeing if I could see the top of my own head) and at that time I am pretty sure that we were still part of Slovenia.

    I blame the Euro.

The odd thing about those red dots is that they do not really correspond to the cities, but rather to municipality (obÄ?ina).
