Instructions for a Sloveno-Roman Candle.
Happy 2007 everybody!
I gave in to my raging inner child and bought some fireworks this year. It was interesting to see that in Slovenia the warning labels on Roman Candles actually encourage you to hold them in your hand. I always loved Roman Candles as a kid, but in the U.S. the stickers consistently advised the opposite. The instructions were: Plant firmly in the ground, put on a hazmat suit, light the fuse, hail a taxi, drive 50 miles away from the candle, put on your safety goggles, watch and enjoy.
Not that we kids actually did that. Of course we ran around shooting them at each other and of course we hurt ourselves. One time a candle malfunctioned and exploded in my hand, blackening my palm, but otherwise causing no major damage. I could’ve sued my way to success if the damn warning labels hadn’t warned me. Damn.
SreÄ?no novo leto.

We were smarter than that and were shooting them strictly in the air. Always. And it was lovely.
Anyways… Happy New Year a.k.a. SreÄ?no novo leto!
Sretna Nova Godina, there was a distinct absence of fireworks in my near vicinity, and no celebratory rounds fired into the air.
And there was definitely no absence of alcohol in my rounds
No note-worthy absences here, either, so let us all go for another happy new year…
Happy New Year Michael
Felices fiestas.
SreÄ?no Novo leto!!!
Happy happy happy in 2007 and in every next year!
Less melancholy (new year) would be good. And a happy one, Michael.
