A Slovenian army recruitment video.
I’m not sure why this video is in English. I’m guessing it’s for NATO conferences and what-not.
Either way, the American army recruitment video is much better.

Having had a certain amount of experience with both armies, I can also say that the American recruitment video you link to is also much more realistic.
They forgot the part of mutilations, getting shot, going around with your entrails out… now being in the army is supposedly not different from going to the bar to play cards :D.
Anyway, I find the last sentence to be particularly scary
A being a militarist in denial that I am I actually find Slovene Army video quite good - it’s Slovene version at least. The English one suffers from too much direct translation and bad syntax. Michael, I take it that the voice-over is not yours…
@pengovsky: “Michael, I take it that the voice-over is not yours…”
I’ll bet it’s not. Good! Otherwise the spot would be too tempting
hm. narration is exactly the same as for Australian army reserves
@Mathew: yep, it would…
Everything fine but the last part - actually, in EVERY job (unless it’s Mafia’s) you SERVE the country. They take lots and lots of taxes from you. :E
don’t you “serve” your country everyday, when you pay your taxes?
they mean serve the country by putting your life on the line, but you’re correct it is not accurate because firefighters and policemen also serve. civilians don’t ’serve’ the country by paying taxes.
Rob, by following that logic, window cleaners serve the country? At this day and age, they are much more likely to put their life on the line than soldiers in Slovenia (which is a good thing).
I’d call the guys with guns mercenaries, no matter what their colors are.
why is it in english? well this is version for the agency. they wanted to have one english version.
Avi
p.s. driving with the tank was one of the best experiences i had.
Though you should bear in mind that this is the first recruitment video for Slovene Army, while the Americans have a bit more experience with such things I guess.
Last year at the Slovene Advertising Festival the Army’s ads received a few awards if I remember correctly.
I am joining
Actually it isn’t a bad video, as such things go…the Devil’s salesmen have a hard job in every country now. As they SHOULD! unless people are defending their own soil.
here are some other videos about slovenian army www.slovenskavojska.si/gradivo/vojak/video.htm
