Socialist heroes prepare for McDonald’s and good leasing. (Photo by)
This weekend, the family that constitutes AlienMelon (henceforth “THE GOONS”) returned from whence they came: Los Angeles. (Henceforth “THE CITY THAT IS SIGNIFICANTLY INFERIOR TO NEW YORK”) The goons played a huge part in shaping this site (henceforth “TEH BODACIOUS”) and their departure is a bitter, awful loss.
I reluctantly say na svidenje to Nathalie, Daniel and Tanja and hope that all my voodoo curses follow them to the shores of the Pacific. If postal regulations allow it, I’ll also be shipping them live scorpions very soon.

And, needless to say: EAST COAST RULEZ!!1!

East side is da best (as if I’ve ever been to either east or west coast, hehe ;)). But Michael…. I hope that this doesn’t mean Carniola will be sans technical support :O
Michael,
The text Nathalie left on her last post runs so contrary to the pictures of her swan song to Slovenia. Word-wise, she sure did not seem to be heartbroken and yet her swan song pictures speak otherwise. Have you been breaking hearts all over Slovenia with your picture-perfect marriage and general joie de vivre?
And I’m with pengovcsky as regards the concern about technical help. How are your smoke signals?
I prepared to help my great white brother if he need help. Me know basic PHP smoke signals. Howgh!
Very nice pictures. It pains me to read that my countrymen have to be avoided in order to enjoy my country, but the truth is often bitter.
A new gun will be coming in for technical support. I can’t say much about him, except that he’s ferocious.
Were any of you “natives” offended by her comments? I was, and I’m not even Slovene. As far as the “small town” feel of the place, that’s one of the qualities I value most–being part of a connected community, in contrast to the extreme alienation and rootlessness that is common to the American way of life.
Yet for all their “small town” mentality, I’d say Slovenes are a helluva lot more clued up about the world outside their borders than the average American is.
Zbogom, Nathalie. I doubt you’ll be missed much by the natives, and I look forward to a revealing photo essay on the urban blight, smog, congestion, crime, and suburban sprawl that characterizes the LA area and indeed much of America.
When were you in Kranj? During the holidays? I thought that McDonalds and the statue look familiar and it was true. But walking past that well in the old part of the city (where that little path splits from the square) today, there were no signs of any construction like it’s in the pics.
