Slovenia: The Game

piran.jpg
Players meet & greet in virtual Piran.

The Slovenian Tourist Organization (STO) and AV Studio have put together something quite nifty. This game allows you to piddle around Slovenia, chatting with other players (mostly angry adolescents, it seems) while also visiting eight key spots in the country: Piran, the Postojna caves, the SoÄ?a valley, Bled, Ljubljana, the Pohorje mountain, Prekmurje, and a spa.

I spent a few minutes with it, during which I saw the word “pedr” (fag) about three dozen times, and responded to any questions directed at me with quotes by Danish existentialist Søren Kierkegaard. (It’s the ultimate conversation killer.)

You can play the game yourself by clicking here. (pops in a new window)

WOW! This is great!… Simple, effective, addictive…. just needs a bit more content and translation into several other languages.

    It’s lovely, BUT:
    - as far as I know, there are no kozolci in Prekmurje (?)
    - there are far too many people running round and quoting someone obviously called Kirkegord (?)

Hahaha :) Poor Soren, being abused like this…

This game is certainly more than a year online… at the time when I saw it there was me and at most 1 more person wandering about Slovenia… usually trying to avoid one another.

Completely offtopic, but on the cover of this months Elle magazine, there’s a pic of Natalija where she doesn’t look like a farmer girl (as I stated previously in a comment on this site somewhere)…

    ;)

Won one of the “Come play in Slovenia” t-shirts from this game last year before I went to Slovenia. Far too large a size.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that if you do each activity in each place you’re automatically entered into a draw, where the prize is no more than “1500 tolars.” ($8)

BigWhale: Verboten is never offtopic on this site. In fact, such comments are actively encouraged.

Also: I had no idea this game was so old…

I took a friend on the site and we had fun and met some cute Slovenian guys! I had a chance to chat with people using Bosnian, and it was great hang gliding and going to the spa!

Katja, you’re a lucky one: I almost got raped in the spa.

alcessa: I think the secret to dealing with crni is to never turn your back on him, especially in places like spas. That’s what I do, anyway.

No, just don’t drop the soap.

Well, I always come late to the parties. All of the interesting folks were gone and the company I was left with were taking way too much enjoyment out of making farting noises. What with the lack of good drinks, prdenje can only carry you so far.

well the SoÄ?a valley is actually a new feature… I’ve never drowned in SoÄ?a before! This experience was a bit scary :)

Well I qualified for the drawing! I took a total of two friends, endured rude louts who can’t appreciate a lady of mature years and fed the elf a lot. The elf is cute!
