Darkness Here, and Nothing More

darkness here and nothing more.jpg
The moon does all its work before dawn. (source 1/2)

Carniola is going to sleep now for half a second, a second, a minute, a century. But I want everyone to know that I am still alive, that I have a golden manger inside my lips, that I am the little friend of the west wind, that I am the elephantine shadow of my own tears.

In other words: My computer is busted and has to be fixed. I’m not sure how long this will take. Luckily it’s still under warranty. Customer service says they’ll need 1 to 3 weeks. I think it will be sooner rather than later. As soon as I get it back, though, I need to do some serious fixes to this site. Among them:

1) A lot of people have been reporting problems with the comment filter. It obviously has to go. I’m thinking of switching to something like Doug & Claudia have at Halfway Down the Danube. I don’t like the usual captcha solutions so much (I regularly have trouble decoding them) so theirs seems like a good compromise.

2) I need to update the about pages and fix some older, broken pages.

3) I need to clean out my ever-expanding backlog of unanswered e-mails and unfinished posts.

4) I need to get some sleep. Preferably the sleep of the apples.

So let it be written, so let it be done! (eventually)

See you all at dawn,

Michael

Well, now that I’ll have some time on my hands I can go back to my other minor projects. Getting to World peace. Concocting a non-greasy-suit-staining burek. Finishing Crytonomicum.

Take your time, Michael! And then bring us the shiny, better, improved Carniola. We will be waiting…

    What’s this under the bed?

    You’re a loser!

I bet you can’t even find your server’s log-file anymore ;-) — something more "serious": I just wanted to hear what you said to your computer customer service and noticed that all links on that page are broken. I still have the mp3-file on my harddisk if someone needs it or wants to devote some web-space to it.

MM: "Customer service says they’ll need 1 to 3 weeks." ??? What do you have? A mainframe :-)

No, he has a lousy customer service. ;)

Get a new computer AND a new customer service! :)

by pengovsky on May 24, 2006 at 10:12 am

  • 10

They could have built you a new one in 3 weeks. o_O
Seriously NOTHING could take that long when it comes to computers. When a component breaks, you just exchange it. PCs are like LEGOs. Silly customer service.

In any case… get back soon. :)

Hm… maybe Michael is using a Mac :)

Pengovsky, Couldn’t be a Mac. As we all know. Must be that darn Wintel machine again.

Hm… I’d like to think so… But the first time I used an iMac the system crashed. So it can be done, belive me :)

Ah. Michael is using abacus and it obviously fell down the stairs and it will take quite some time to find all the missing beads.

Or maybe he’s getting it ‘pimped’ and his customer service is waiting for their custom grown pearls… :P

BigWhale… don’t forget that beads need to be painted and the paint needs to get dry… this will take for ages :)

Yesterday I simply wanted to say "Enjoy yourself" and was banned from posting it because of the "inappropriate content", today I am cleverer: Have fun!

    Is this blog dead?

by abc on June 5, 2006 at 6:22 pm

  • 19

no it’s not, it’s on hiatus! at least that’s what we all hope!
we hope that Micheal will be back as right as rain!

“as right as rain”We’ve had enough of rain lately… Maybe Michael gave up on Slovenia and moved somewhere with better weather. Like England.

I’ve heard being a roadie for Natalja Verboten has its good points and bad. Not posting for, oh….5 weeks!!, well, that’s one of the bad points. Having a wealth of experiences to blog about at some point? Well, that’s a good point and hopefully Michael will be illuminating how life is handling Natlaja’s…uhmmm..equipment.

by DarkoV on June 6, 2006 at 1:59 pm

  • 22

Well, it sure looks dead. I mean, cmon, how long does it take to repair one’s PC? And, why Michael needs exactly that computer to edit this blog?

Michael, what the fruit’s happening with your Carniola? I want my favourite early morning read back ASAP!

Don’ make come to Maribor and kick your ass!

Careful with the threats… you might scare him away forever.
And we certainly don’t want that!

We should hold a massive street demonstration in the main square or something.
I don’t see why after putting all the WORK into this blog, to make it look all spiffy and stuff, Micheal would want to quit!
Unless he ran off with Natalija Verboten!

I feel a riot coming on here… If Michael doesn’t come back soon, there might just be bloodshed in the streets of Maribor… ? No, seriously : it’s taking a lot of time, isn’t it? About as long as Poulette needs to publish a new post on her own blog, even… :-D

    Yo!
Enough with the kvetching! Anyone going to step forward and be the mini-Mike until the real thing comes back?

From the comments posted, some usual suspects can be rounded up, it seems

I’ve just had a Michael M. Sighting! He’s commented over at East Ethnia! He still says his computer is down, so is Gkordy’s computer!
