Why does PutFile hate Slovenia?
I used to have an account at PutFile, which is a "free digital media service" for hosting videos. I first found out about it from the wildly popular Slovenian site Izklop, which used to upload a lot of stuff there. But when I recently tried to log in, I discovered that my account was no more:
Due to persistent abuse we regret we are no longer accepting uploads from your region at this time.
Ouch. The whole region? What could’ve happened that they had to blanket-ban the whole country and possibly beyond? I wrote to Andrej at Izklop, assuming that one of their videos had pushed PutFile over the edge, but he had "no idea" about it.
I also wanted to ask PutFile what happened, and inquire into their "collective punishment" policy, which — by the way — violates Article 33 of the Geneva Conventions (besides being a totally asshole-ish thing to do) but I couldn’t. You have to login to ask a question, and I can’t. So that was that. The end.
Luckily there are plenty of great alternatives, so to hell with them.

Ok, who requested more technology posts in the survey?
Not me, I didn’t take it!
Hm…. maybe it’s only Gorenjska region?
This is certainly no wonder!
Of course users from such god forsaken places like Slovenia, Chechnia and all the areas controlled by Russian mafia are banned from the putfile.com, and rightfully so.
I presume people were uploading too many videos of unreported murders.
But:
the map of Europe at www.essen.de suddenly contains all of the missing countries, including Slovenia. At least they have finally recognised us…
Speaking of YouTube, here’s a video done by some local high school kids in Delaware that’s been a hit. It deals with women’s suffrage. If you wnat to get an idea as to why Americans seem to be the worst voters in the world, i.e. not showing up or not knowing what the voting issues are about, check it out here at Vote against Women’s Suffrage.
Note Bene:
The high school where this young fellow was video-taping is an all girls high school. After he had posted this video on YouTube and word got out, the principal of the Catholic high school, Padua Academy, got so ticked off she called the high school where this guy goes to and insisted he be punished (I guess for her students’ stupidity). Since he also went to a Catholic high school, in his case an all boys school, punishment in the form of detention was almost immediate. He is, allegedly, working on another video exploring the Right to Speech and Catholicism. Expect an announcement of excommunication shortly, in addition to acceptance to UCLA’s famed film school.
The guy should consider contacting the ACLU! I don’t know what they can do with a situation in a Catholic school, but he’ll meet lots of nice lawyers, a great chance to network for him!
I am about to contact ACLU! My last name is constantly violently butchered by the Americans! I too want an opportunity to meet hot lawyer chicks!
Oh NO Good! was that a photo of Natalje Verboten EATING the MIKE! oooooj! *runs away*,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The problem was most probably bandwidth stealing. Ok, they should have banned a user, maybe a website or two, but the whole region?! *shocked*
