Hallelujah!
Gastronomically speaking, things are really going my way lately: First, I hear that Maribor will soon be getting its own authentic Indian restaurant; I was also happy to hear, from Cornelius, that there’s a Subway in Ljubljana; and now Nina has provided photographic evidence (see above) of pure grape juice.
Everything is falling into place.
Big thanks to Nina for closing the book on this old mystery…

Grape juice? Isn’t that like…Wine?
LooooL, no, Jozo.. grape juice has slightly different consequences :)Congratulations, Michael
Grape juice? Isn’t that like…Wine?strike one for theory #2
And they say old age doesn’t bring new perspectives…
Subway in Ljubljana, Curry house in Maribor, but when oh when we will get our first Fish and Chip shop???
Heh, after i’ve read about that, i got into the shop(s) and tried to find it (i’ve never tried it of course) and i did find an hungarian one, although it sucked. No taste. "Mošt" aka Must in english (i think), is a lot much better.
R u people sick? With all the bloody wine there is in SLovenia u r drinkink madafukin juice, I mean grapes juice…hellooo!!!! That is for pussies! U have any idea how bad that is? They put some powders in it to prevent it from becoming wine, bleah…
@KM Never, I hope!
Yeah, well, I’m in the States, and everything is NOT falling into place - where’s my strawberry juice?
Have you tried it yet, Michael? I have and it tastes like…let’s just say it’s not my favorite juice and I can understand now why they used to make only wine here. Maybe the one in the States was better.
In relation to that Unsolved mystery, they have no-seeds-grape in Hofer.Which in strictly biological point of view makes me wonder, how the hell does it reproduce? And, are seeds just very very small or completely non-existent? :)
BigWhale: ever wonder how bananas reproduce? those don’t have seeds, either. well, functional ones, at least. it’s all a matter of advanced agriculture.
389,90 for a half litre bottle? I guess grapes are an expensive commodity these days… right after oil and natural gas. Geez.
A Subway in Ljubljana what next? I guess the good old days of buying a roll (ham/chesse sandwich) at the supermarkets are gone!!
Patrick — I’ve seen strawberry-cranberry juice here in the States. Does that count?
Ever heard of cuttings? (I believe that is how seedless bananas and grapes are reproduced)
Peter Zrinski: exactly. problem with bananas is, the ones with seeds are completely unpalatable. the ones without however, are a product of decades if not hundreds of year of selective agriculture. thing is, they’re also pretty weak to plant diseases, and one of those is apparently threatening to literaly wipe out the entire world-wide population of (seedles) banana trees. which would mean, we’d have to start from scratch from the bananas with seeds. or in other words, we just might find ourselves completely banana-less in a couple of years or so.
