Smack My Lado Up

Click to play.

One of Slovenia’s most popular shows is Tistega Lepega Popoldneva (This Beautiful Afternoon). It’s a laid-back general-interest show led by the beautifully metrosexual and manga-haired host Lado BizoviÄ?ar, who recently staged a mock fight with the popular actor Branko Djuric. (Non-Slovenes may recognize him from the film No Man’s Land.)

I should stress that it’s fake, although it seems to generally rattle co-host Anja Tomažin. In a longer version of the video, she emotionally walks off the stage after discovering it was all staged. One can only applaud Lado’s very kaufmanesque prank.

I won’t bother translating everything, but the final words from Anja are: "We’ll be right back" followed by a rather unconvincing smile.

(Thanks Boštjan!

I haven’t watched TLP for ages, but this was funny :) Gotta start watching it again on sundays… Hehe… this was worthy Jerry Springer show and his fight collection :)  Ok, for Anja it was a bad joke, but her "shocked" expression is… But OK, i guess that was not written in the script, loaded in her Palm… :)But i guess TV shows aren’t immune… parliaments are popular… indiaindonesia , …

Haha. Too funny. I should seriously start watching that show. Lado BizoviÄ?ar was extremely convincing. It was Branko Djuric who makes it a tad less believable with his not so convincing acting skills. Still priceless though. :)

ok, here goes. a rough transcript of the goings-on:

lado: man, you’ve been defensive through this entire show, about how we’re annoying and all that. do you have a problem? is that it?

djuro: i don’t have a problem. if you’ve got a problem with me, i can always just walk out of here.
lado: /stands up and sits next to djuro/ no, i don’t want you to leave, i want you to tell me what your problem is. i mean, you’ve been known to hit people you don’t like. is that it? do you wanna punch me?
djuro: if you’re so eager to know, i can always give you a free demonstration after the show.
lado: /stands up/ so i’m right? you are looking for a fight here?
/djuro stands up, smacks lado, lado falls down and gets up again, audience claps, lado turns to the other guest in the show/
lado: you, who the hell told you to clap?
    guest: oh sorry man.
lado: /turns back to djuro/ man, i’ll sue you. i’m so suing your ass off! /leaves/
anja: /smiles uneasily/ erm, we’ll be right back. cut to commercials.
for a personal observation: i quit watching this show eons ago, because the once relaxed duo turned into an annoying couple of pricks. especially the lado persona, he’s just incredibly obnoxious (as can be seen from the video). i sincerely hope lado isn’t like that in real life, because if he is, he’s just another chav.

A so-so Kaufman ripoff. Kaufman and Jerry Lawler used to take this sort of stuff to the extremes, having the "feud" last for weeks on various shows, but these two wussed out after 5 minutes…Still, it’s certainly more fun than anything else on Slo TV, so…

I actually hate the show (boring and with a very poor sense of humour), but I have to admit I loved the trick. Way to go, Lado!

Ingenious. I didn’t really like the show before, but Lado now got 10 points out of 10 for this from me.
