A pre-war newscast. Click play to watch.

Here’s the ultimate example of Freud’s parapraxis, or Freudian slip. This newscast, aired shortly before the disintegration of Yugoslavia, is about some of the European reactions to the escalating problems. For example, the second slide says: Austrija pojaÄ?ava vojne jedinice na granici sa Slovenijom. (Austria has sent army units to the border with Slovenia)

The third slide is where it gets interesting. It reads: EEZ izražava zabrinutost zbog sranja u Jugoslaviji. (The EU, in a special report, expresses its concern about the shit in Yugoslavia.) The host stumbles over the word "sranja" and then explains:

"I’m sorry, that’s a mistake. It should be the stanja ("state") of Yugoslavia." He then adds: "Although what’s written is not completely wrong. I do apologize, but you’ll have to decide on your own if it was intentional or not."
