Staring at an Absolute Beauty

majamarko.jpg
Ljubljansko barje. Photo courtesy of Maja and Marko.

The Slovenia group on Flickr has grown to a healthy 68 members since Carlos the Jackal started it up last summer. Although he originally intended it as a front for his anarcho-primitivist political activities, some great pictures have managed to turn up there — as can be witnessed here.

While wading in that pool of photographic delights, you may notice that the user name majamarko turns up repeatedly. And, if you’re like me, you may notice that their pictures are really quite stunning: really sharp and really vibrant. And more colorful than an exploding peacock. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve seen a nicer collection of photos of Slovenia than theirs. I’m looking forward to seeing more.

For a good starting point, try their favorited group — a sort of "greatest hits" compilation. Or rock your way through the slideshow thereof. And if you haven’t already, consider joining the Flickr Slovenia group — you can always tell the police you had no idea what Carlos was up to.

That is one of the loveliest pictures in that group, but there are so many, Slovenia is a beautiful place.

It has been said time after time after time, and yet I feel the need to say it again; Slovenia is really really beautiful. In fact, beautiful doesn’t even begin to cover it, they should invent a strong superlative to be used just when describing this country.I suggest the word ’slovliest’ or even just ’slovely’ should do it.

Nicely put, mesni sir. And a good idea, too.Carlos: How do we know that signing up won’t put us on some kind of FBI’s most-wanted list?

I agree with Katja, this Barje-pic is really outstanding, and
definitely a good pick. The slo-group on flickr is doing a good job,
but some of the users (like majamarko) have already exceeded the flickr
standards. I mean: they are too good, their pictures are already on the
level to deserve their own dedicated platform (= photoblog). Flickr is
excellent for building communities & encouraging people, but
    sometimes
(especially with good pictures) it’s cluttered interface is hard to
    bear.

Almost all majamarko pics are outstanding, I agree.
To me the best are those with theme of mountains: Orlovo gnezdo, Velika planina.

I think these photos show great talent, but doesn’t anyone besides me find that the photo-shopped colours border on cheezy?

Thank you all for the interest in our work :)I think flickr is really good tool for self and your country promotion, wo what i’m missing is more Slovenian photographers, almost all the promotion is done by British tourists :)and Borut, i can totally agree that some photos doesn’t look "right", but it’s a thing I always notice too late.
