The Many Faces of Radenska

radenska egypt.jpg
A Radenska label from Egypt.

Short and sweet and bubbly today: This site contains a bunch of labels from the popular Slovenian mineral water Radenska as they appear around the world. (At one point, in 1890, they were the official distributors for the Pope and Emperor. It’s a pretty interesting history if you care to read it.)

In the meantime, have a nice weekend!

(Thanks La Flaca!

Nice. I never knew Radenska was so "popular". :)

One of the benefits of driving out to the state of Ohio  visitng
the son at college is stopping in at one of those mega-stores out
there.  The one we love is Mejir’s.
Reason?   It stocks Radenska Voda.  We usually buy a
case or two to haul back to the East Coast.  Can’t have a great gemist without Radenska.

Radenska ‘Königsquell’ was quito popular here in Austriayears ago, I was told
not only because it was cheap. But todal it somehow disappeaqred from
the stores, I cannot found it at Billa, Merkur etc… Dunno what
    hapened to them, though.

Dear Micheal M. Thanks for contributing to my homesickness! I love
Radenska and had quite a bit of it in Sarajevo. Everyone drinks it
there if they can find it.

I’d probably get slaughtered for this by some zealous supporters of particular brands but… isn’t mineral water just mineral water, no matter what the brand is? I seriously can’t tell which one I’m drinking while poured in a glass.

freddie: There are different minerals in different mineral
waters, so no, they’re not the same, every one is a bit different. Of
course it doesn’t mean everyone can always tell the difference, I also
can’t tell which one I’m drinking when poured in a glass but there are
some I like and some that I don’t - for the record, in general it’s
most Balkan (Radenska, Jamnica, Knjaz Milosh etc) vs. Alpine (e.g.
    Evian) waters.

freddie: Try Donat. It has a peculiar taste and will promptly give you the shits.

Then there is always Agua Tehjuacan, I’m not sure I spelled it
correctly but it was sometjomg I drank regularly as a kid in
Mexico…Over there, they don’t mix it with wine or juices though…
