Unless something has gone horribly wrong, there should be a new banner at the top of this page. I was eager to put up something new, and since kitsch is mandatory this time of year, I thought it’d be nice to switch to a winter/X-mas theme. Luckily for me, the wonderful Nathalie stepped in and provided a ton of great photos (mostly of Kranj, the heart of the former province of Carniola) and also revamped the original banner. To do the snow effect, she had to individually animate each snowflake frame-by-frame — a task that involved 50,000 man-hours and a team of 150 assistants, mostly hamsters. At least, that’s how I imagine it happening. I could be wrong.

Either way, she did a beautiful job (as always) and I’m grateful. (As always) If you’re ever looking to have some quality creative work done, consider the fine folks at AlienMelon. You shan’t be disappointed!

In the meantime, while we’re on the subject, here’s a short illustrated history of the banners that have appeared on this site. If you remember the very first one, then: Hello, Mitja! I know it’s you because you were the only one around at the time. Can you believe that was almost two years ago?

Have a wonderful weekend and peaceful second advent!

(Thanks again Nathalie!
