A still from the parodic short Tine Strela Goes to the Himalayas.
I’m late posting this. Really late. As in:
The-whole-country-has-already-seen-this, and everyone-has-linked-to-this-except-for-me-and-that-one-Raëlian-Cult-page.
I’m
ashamed to admit this, because I strongly support any and all creative
endeavors and think Slovenia could definitely use more. This one happens to be a well-made,
six-and-a-half minute short that parodies Slovenian marathon swimmer Martin Strel.
The jokes focus primarily on his heavy drinking (during Strel’s
two-month swim down the Mississippi he consumed a bottle of wine a day)
and also on the advertisements he did for a mattress company here.
The video is only available in Slovene, but there is a short English-language trailer. (2.27 MB)
And yes, that’s me doing the Hollywood preview-guy voice in the trailer. I’ve obviously missed my calling…

Whoa, your voice sounds kinda like the guy in the NASCAR prank phone call, the one at the beginning.
BTW, I wonder. Ever saw Boston Public? I guess the principal has the
EXACT voice of your average Hollywood-preview guy. Is that the same?
Hm? Hm?
Fantastic! Now, all we need is some subtitles
Gawd, the VOICE! I saw an interview with Strel once and he
was all bitter at not having made any money from his little Mississippi
expedition. And please spare me the it was a great promotion for Slovenia
argument: an oddball nutter swimming the Mississippi is surely little
more than a passing curiousity at best, no one seriously gives a bleep
whether he’s from Slovenia or Pennsylvania. If money’s what you’re
after, get a job. Othewise bask in your dubious glory and quit bitching.Aaaaargh! have I just turned into one of those scary ranting commenters?!
Haha, this guy has some really good stuff..I guess the real question is: "Is CviÄ?ek really worth more than a Sherpa?"
Michael,Were the radio ghosts of
"Sunday!Sunday!SUNDAY!At Raceway Park in Flemington, NJ.Funny Cars. Dragsters. Big Daddy GrahamAll, this Sunday….." riding around in your head? The tone is so absolutley dead-on and hilarious. Great job.
DEAR GOD! AHAHAHA
