Christina Aguilera Absolutely Loves [INSERT PRODUCT NAME HERE] !

A billboard for Ljubljanske Mlekarne. (Ljubljana Dairies)

Since
Slovenian companies occasionally run roughshod over ideas like
"copyright" and "fair use," I’m always curious about what’s been legitimately paid for or not. This ice-cream advertisement featuring pop star Christina Aguilera is a perfect example. My instincts tell me that Ljubljanske Mlekarne
couldn’t possibly afford using Aguilera’s image — at least not without
endangering the company’s survival. On the other hand, American stars
have been known to appear in strange advertisements abroad (see: Japander)
knowing that it won’t hurt their image at home. Perhaps Aguilera agreed
to let her photo be used in a small, relatively unknown country in
exchange for a few thousand dollars in shopping money? It seems
possible.

But it’s still odd to think that her face is being used to
promote a product she’s probably never tasted, from a country she
probably couldn’t find on a map, and made by a producer whose name she
almost certainly can’t pronounce.

Then again, maybe it’s not even
her — just a carefully chosen lookalike. Goodness, the questions just
keep coming one after another like rain drops. It’s enough to make your
head hurt.

Perhaps it’s best to ignore billboards like this, and concentrate all your attention on ones like this. (Or maybe just ignore them all…?)

UPDATE: Slovenian super-sleuth Domen discovered from the agency that did the commercials that it IS Aguilera and that they bought the image from a Getty photo bank — sps was right!

That’s Christina Aguilera? I thought it was just some Madonna/Monroe
wannabe/lookalike. Last time I saw Aguilera on TV she looked… hmm…
    better? :)

Happy you’re back. The questions you bring up are all valid, intriguing. My questions are:i) RE: your absence. Another "wet op"? ii) Is this another case of our synchronized menses?

Interesting….I was just bitching about that ad a few days ago…Plus
the one I saw didn’t have a big black square around it, so I was
wondering why the hell put an ugly face up on the billboard for no
reason, other than to increase the attractiveness of the icecream cone.
    Anyway…

    That’s not Aguilera.

I talked to Christina (in my head) and she said it’s, like, totally her.

guys, it’s not really that hard to look like christina - all you need is a 1,5 kg of make-up, a liter of bleach and a ribbon or two to tie around your private parts…i vote it’s a wannabe. mike, has this "christina in my head" experience changed you at all? :)

It has changed me. I feel more psychotic than ever before!sgazzetti: I’m not allowed to discuss the details of i for fear of retribution. As for ii:
We should go ahead and merge our sites together, list it on the
Ljubljana stock exchange, and then run it into the ground like it’s
1999! Aww, yeah!Regarding Christina: If that thing is a double,
it’s the most Christina-looking double in the galaxy. Look at some of
these professional lookalikes here or here or here and you’ll see that they barely resemble her. This girl’s like some kind of shape-shifting chameleon doppelgänger. Or something.

I’ll have my legal team draw up the paperwork. Meanwhile, I found a compelling image here:http://www.starstore.com/acatalog/Christina_Aguilera_bs-01.jpg

WOW, her hairdo is mirrored and her "beauty mark" is on the other side too, otherwise it really is "totally" her. The dress appears to be the same too. This can’t be legal, so I’m hoping for a law-suit ;) I don’t like Ljubljanske mlekarne anyway. This is what they deserve after taking MAX ice cream out of the sale!

Great find, sgazzetti! The plot thickens…I’m quite eager to hear what they tell cookie.
I hope it’s not something like: Dear Cookie, thanks for your interest
in our delicious ice creams. We’ve added your name to our special
mailing list, so that we can inform you about any new flavors or
special deals. Thanks for your support — Ljubljanske mlekarne

the pic is probably from a stock agency like Corbiss or Getty , if you pay them enough money , you can do anything you want with it

No, that can’t be possible. Do you know how much money loreal, Jade and other cosmetic or other companies spend on a single commercial? LM could never afford such a model for such a massive commercial. It’s public use, not private, those services may be for private use of photos, but this is not the case.

Well, it appears that Ljubljanske mlekarne had nothing to do with
the whole thing. It was all ploted in Futura advertising agency.
However I don’t want to push things so far and go ask Futura what’s
with the ad..Btw. they (at Ljubljanske mlekarne) told me if I was to post under the name
Cookie here (sorry lads, I ain’t Cookie), I should tell all those who
hate Ljubljanske mlekarne for taking MAX ice cream out of the sale
that, I quote: "MAXIM ice cream is the improved version of the all-time
    favorite MAX ice cream
". :))  Someone from Ljubljanske mlekarne likes to keep himself/herself up-to-date by reading TGoC :D

so they payed the rights and now everyone is dissapointed or what…?
of course the agency that works for them had to arange this…
just because it is in slovenia it doesn’t mean they’re completely illiterate.

Is not! Maxim - improvement? More like impairment. Chocolate tastes like coffee and the fruits tatste like something made of powder. I’m never buying it again. We want MAX!
