"On this spot, Nina remembered that money isn’t everything."

Depending on where you are, you may have noticed these little stickers appearing on lampposts, ATM machines and elsewhere. They’re designed to resemble marble or granite tablets and have pithy phrases about life on them. They were put up by the philanthropic society Prostovoljstvo.org in a guerilla marketing scheme to get Slovenes interested in doing volunteer work.

I find it a little strange that there’s a volunteer organization whose primary focus is to promote volunteerism. It’s also a bit ironic that they use vandalism to encourage people to build a better community. Still, they’ve got a very tough battle ahead of them.

As mentioned here, Slovenian men and women are among the most unenthusiastic volunteers on the continent. Judging by Prostovoljstvo’s barren forums, it doesn’t look like people are exactly stampeding to help out. Will these lamppost stickers turn the tide? Only time will tell!
