A recent basketball game between Cibona Zagreb and Partizan Belgrade, which the Croatians won 81-78, led to a brief resumption of hostilities between the two rivals, at least in cyberspace, as Dragan reports. It apparently began when a Croatian hacker defaced Belgrade’s Pink TV website, prompting Serbs to vandalize the official page of Croatian skiing sensation Janica Kostelić. [Index.hr has a screenshot here.]
For a few hours, Kostelić’s site had a picture of controversial Serbian basketballer Milan Gurović on it, with the words "If we can’t do it on the court, we’ll do it online." There followed the standard boasts and jabs, topped off with a picture of the Serbian general and chetnik Draža Mihailović and the caption: "Greetings from our dear leader." The whole episode was signed: Sincere regards from Serbia, the land of brave heroes and internet maniacs.
