    Is this really necessary? NO!

Cops need to be out there catching BAD drivers, not just any motorist going over the speed limit.

On highways, when there is little (or zero) traffic, like in the above pictures, speed limits are unnecessary.

Geee - I didn’t know these! Thanx a lot. How many of those have been smashed already?

Yessss… but these pictures are NOT from a Slovenian highway. I’ve never seen that type of SOS booth and the fence is much too well built for our standards. Also the wired fence liked this is nowhere to be seen here. To me it seems like a German or Austrian highway.

If the signs in the back are green they are neither Austrian nor German.

Motorists going over the speed limit are bad drivers! Speed is the biggest cause of accidents on the roads and anything that will reduce it is a good thing. In all countries where there has been a crackdown on speeding motorists, the road toll has dropped and so have deaths from accidents.

Motorists going over the speed limit are bad drivers!

So Schumacher is a bad driver? In Formula 1, he drives often on the same city roads as you and me (e.g. streets of Monaco, Montreal, etc).

Drivers who don’t signal in traffic while changing lanes should be ticketed (heavily). Drivers who tailgate other vehicles should be ticketed (heavily). Drunk drivers should be ticketed (heavily and have their licences revoked).

In light highway traffic, no tickets should be given out for exceeding the speed limit except in extreme cases (e.g. 180 km).

I always pay close attention to the road and NEVER pay attention to speed limits. Yet, I have never been in an accident and have never even received a speeding ticket. (Okay, there was this one time I got in an accident: last year I was waiting at a red light and got hit from behind by some oblivious moron.)

I am, what one would call, a GOOD driver. However, with this type of evil speed trap device on the roads in Slovenia, I don’t stand a chance of evading undeserved punishment.

blank: have you ever taken a driving technique course where you learn how to react in dangerous situations? If you haven’t - I can highly recommend them. It significantly changes your attitude to your own life and that of others and Schumacher and does a way better job than these speed traps.

Novala: I know that Austria uses blue signs but I’ve most definetly seen green signs also in EU. Perhaps Italy.

Also one other thing - the signs in Slovenia are rarely “composed” i.e. made of several strips and joined together. See the sign on the left.

novala: While I haven’t, my dad has. And he taught me almost everything I know about driving. :)
One of the first and most important rules he taught me is this: Anticipate the actions of other drivers.

Another thing he taught me is how to look for speed traps…
