Ohmigod, Umag!

The Parish Church of Umag at night.

While technically still on vacation, I’m back from Istria. I didn’t manage to eat, read and swim simultaneously, but I did do a lot of them independently. (Especially the first one.)

I can confirm Dragan’s hypothesis that September is an ideal time to visit the region — the weather was pleasant, the sea was warm, and the crowds were thin.

We spent a full week in Umag. To an English-speaker, that may sound like something out of Tolkien’s Black Speech, but it’s actually a wonderful town towards the top of the Istrian peninsula, close to the Slovenian border. I had a great time.

I’ll be around intermittently this week, but I’ve set the blog to auto-post a few pictures and stories for the week about Umag and environs. Mostly random stuff without rhyme or reason.
