Historical Maps of the Balkans

era_of_the_crusades
The Balkans during the Crusades, with Karantania included. (source)

The University of Texas at Austin has a great collection of historical maps of the Balkans: the Perry-CastaƱeda Library Map Collection. It includes such goodies as the decline of the Ottoman Empire from 1683 to 1923 and city maps of Sarajevo and Belgrade circa 1905.

There are also military maps from the siege of Sarajevo, plus very many more.

My mother’s family immigated to US from Malenca around 1900, mostly to Sheboygan, Hiles and Chicago. Family names are Bukovic, Palovic and Pirc. Also have note of Father Francis Xaivor Pirc who, from 1830-1880, was missionary in Wisconsin USA where these families immigrated to after he returned to Carniola.

Any information on location of Malenca or any information on family trees for these families would be very welcome.

I am curious about where my lineage traces back to. I am going to ask my grandpa, but am not sure about how much he knows. My Grandpa is Albert Bukovic and he is almost 81 now. Any possible information would be great. I thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from who ever can help.
