vecer
The front page of Večer on August 2, 2004. Click to enlarge.

Yesterday’s edition of the daily newspaper Večer included an unfortunate mix of content and advertising. The headline story, about a bus accident that killed two Slovenian tourists, starts:

Pot na Krf se je končala tragično
(The road to Corfu ends in tragedy)

After reading the gruesome story of the bus, which slammed into a mountainside en route to Corfu, and after seeing a picture of the wreck, the reader might notice the advertisement at the bottom of the page that says:

Danes ob nakupu Večera — turistični priročnik Krf in Jonski otoki za samo 980 SIT.
(If you buy Večer today, get the tourist guide to Corfu and the Ionian islands for only 980 SIT.)

Unfortunate advertising juxtapositions — they can happen to anybody.
