The Politics of the Left Cause Tears

sls_advertisement
A scene from the SLS party’s newest advertisement. Click to view.

The Slovenska Ljudska Stranka (SLS) is a right-of-center political party here in Slovenia. Translated, their name means “Slovenian People’s Party” and they can best be described as morally conservative, with values that generally overlap with those of the Catholic Church.

So it was a bit surprising to see that their newest ad is so risque, and so full of naked people.

The ad (you can watch it here) shows a pretty young woman lying happily in bed, presumably post coitus. We see a naked man walking into the bathroom to shower. (Gratuitous arse shot included.) The smiling lady leisurely gets up and accidentally discovers, among the man’s possessions, a membership form for the LDS. (The left-of-center party that currently rules Slovenia.)

Horrified, she drops the form, puts on her clothes and storms out of the apartment. The man comes out and stands in the apartment alone, dripping wet. Then we see the words:

Politicni levicarji prinasajo solze.
(The politics of the left cause tears.)

Followed by an exhortation to join the SLS.

All fine and good. Here are my questions, though:

1) What are four buttocks, one thong, and one hint of pre-marital intercourse doing in a commercial for a morally conservative party?

2) The commercial suggests that beautiful women can’t tolerate leftists. But it also suggests that: a) LDS men get very beautiful women to sleep with them, b) LDS men are extraordinary lovers, judging by the lady’s initial smile and c) SLS women are so “loose” that they sleep with guys before figuring out if they are politically compatible. After all, if this woman is so passionate about politics — to the point where supporting the LDS is an instant dealbreaker — wouldn’t she bring up politics pretty much immediately after meeting this guy? You’d think it would be her first or second question. Or that it would at least come out before any acts of physical intimacy took place.

3) Finally, what does any of this have to do with politics?

And what does this ad tell about SLS? That they can’t spell slovenian in filenames? Look at the url of mpg file. :)
There is an extra R in “zaupanje”.

    And the story continues…

    Translation:

    Mladinamit 446

Unknown hackers sent the following version to Mladina. But in this version the ad is played backwards.

    The result is: www.mladina.si/raznosti/04-17-sos.mpg

    Enjoy !

Oh, and the “subtitles” for the ad:

“Ko se solse posuÅ¡ijo” - When the tears dry.

The membership form is for SDS :)
“SLS rada da…” - SLS likes to give…

“Svoje volilno telo” - its own (electoral) body.

    SLS = Sex oder schlamperai

That remix is wonderful! What’s the name of that folk song playing in the background? I think it’s my new all-time favorite single…
