Natalija Verboten 2: The Two Towers

Natalija Verboten: turbo-folk singer and joy of man’s desiring.

When I started The Glory of Carniola in January of this year, my goal was to make a site that would document what life in Slovenia was like at the turn of the millennium. My referral logs, however, tell me that people aren’t interested in what life in Slovenia is like at the turn of the millennium. They’re interested in Natalija Verboten, preferably naked. I wrote about Natalija’s biggest fan in February. That post is now the number one search result for "Natalija Verboten" on Yahoo! (Even ahead of her official site.) As a result, I get numerous hits a day from people who are lustfully scouring the Internet for pictures of her and her cataclysmic cleavage. I could, of course, ignore this fact. But remember, my friends, that Tito is dead, Slovenia is a market economy, and today, at the turn of the millennium, only the free market matters. I could ignore the enormous demand for Natalija Verboten pictures, but what kind of example would I (as an American) be setting? Not the right one. Anyone who ignores the vox populi is doomed to the scrap heap of history. And so, without further ado, here are pictures of Natalija Verboten. Go forth, you lustful buzzards, and feast on them. Go, friends, go, and may the free market bless us all!

Verboten goes vishing.

Verboten sweats.

Verboten sweats some more.

Verboten imitates Elizabeth Berridge in Amadeus.

(Thanks to Dejan and Mitja for the pictures!)

I was originally drawn here to read about Slovenia, and I’d have to say that the market is working fine in this part of the world.

If I don’t know who Natalija Verboten is, can I still come over and visit your country some day or is that enough to get me turned back at the border? :-)

natalija verboten is not a turbo-folk singer.
    turbo-folk singers are serbians.

Technically that’s true. Turbo-folk is definitely a product of Serbia, and strongly associated with that country. Perhaps a more accurate description would be “Slovenian turbo-folk singer.”

Hi! I may disagree with you. Natalija is sexy, but at least she’s honest and decent. Zhenska je… (Ženska je, veš in po žilah se strast preliva)

I was trying to become one of her fans and even asked for a poster. But so far, no answer.

So, hey! Michael M. - thanks for free pictures of Verboten - I will use them to create my own
poster. Sure I can use some more from her official site. I’ll probably post my poster on my politcentr or s000ngs site.

And finally, what is your opinion of Nusha Durenda? Is she less popular? Her voice is stronger and deeper, though. Could you recommend me online good course of Slovene language? My native language is Russian, but I also read English and German, Italian. So any of those will do.

    Thanks a lot!
